BEAUTY CRUSH: Tracee Ellis Ross

BEAUTY CRUSH: Tracee Ellis Ross

There are so many beautiful and talented people in the world. We all have our personal favs. For me, one of those people listed under personal fav is Tracee Ellis Ross. I've noticed her since being on MTV's The Lyricist Lounge Show. After that, there was Girlfriends, Read Between The Lyons and Black-ish, all shows that I have watched and enjoyed. Not only is she talented, but she also into beauty, health, and wellness. If you follow her on social media, you will see her sharing her workout routine and even the beauty products she uses. It is always wonderful to see her just like a regular person doing her beauty routine. There is always a product or brand being used that I've never heard of or have been curious about.

One day, a former coworker sent a DM asking if I have heard of a particular brand that was on Tracee's IG story. I looked and replied back that the brand was unfamiliar. They then replied back to me saying she and I have beautiful skin and figured I would know. This was my first introduction to the brand Retrouve. Immediately after that, I followed them on Instagram. From that point on, some products by them have been on my wish list. Fast forward and I was able to win a contest for one of the products I was planning on buying from a luxury website I've wanted to order from. The item was the Luminous Cleansing Elixir. I love to double cleanse and this was a good way to celebrate my birthday.

Naturally, when it arrived, I couldn’t wait to use it. The presentation was amazing and the product was equally amazing. I took my dry hands and pumped 5 times to get a good amount of the cleanser. It is basically like a mix of a cleansing oil and a cleansing balm. It feels amazing on the skin. The Luminous Cleansing Elixir is a luxurious product in both terms of price and experience. I would recommend it and plan on purchasing it on my own when it goes out. I really like the fact that as thick as it can be, when mixed with water and rinsed off, it comes off completely and the face feels clean and not stripped.

When you see Tracee Ellis Ross, she normally has her hair out freely in all its curly glory. After a few years of testing out formulas, she ended up creating and releasing her very own hair care line called Pattern. This is basically an ode to the different curl patterns of those with curly and coiled hair. Yes, I'm bald and yes, my hair is not curly, but I adore Tracee and yes, I bought something. The line is available at Ulta and when I was out, I purchased the travel size version of The Hydration Shampoo. I just had to get it. I actually plan on buying the full-size bottle of the shampoo. Here is why I love it: The consistency is not watery, it smells nice, rinses off clean and my scalp didn’t feel dry. On top of that, it does get everything on the head clean. Typically, I would wash my hair before I shaved my head.

I can honestly say that Tracee Ellis Ross has been a good source for beauty inspiration. I cannot wait to try out even more of the products she uses. I do plan on buying more things from Retrouve and any other skincare items she may have in her stash.

Do you have a celebrity that you have taken beauty inspiration from?
