BEAUTY CRUSH: Marilyn Monroe

BEAUTY CRUSH: Marilyn Monroe

This beauty crush needs no introduction. Often hailed as the ultimate standards of beauty. From many iconic moments and a tragic end, Marilyn Monroe and her beauty have been embedded in the mind of so many. Although I'm sure there are many beauty products and rituals Marilyn used in her lifetime, with Beauty Crush, the goal is to find goodies in my collection that have a connection to the subject. Granted, I don't have the exact products, I do have 2 products that are in close proximity, Erno Laszlo and Chanel.

Not too long ago, I won an IG contest and was gifted many goodies. Among them, there was a sleeping mask by Erno Laszlo. To be honest, I do recall seeing the brand around while window shopping at department stores. I just never bought anything. Before knowing of the connection to Mrs. Monroe, I actually liked using the sleeping mask and had no clue who Laszlo was. Fast-forward to the point where half the sleeping mask was gone and late-night surfing on YouTube shed some light on the link between the two. In a nutshell, Erno Laszlo gave Marilyn Monroe a beauty prescription that was very detailed. I don't have the products she used and a good bit of them are no longer in production. However, it is nice to know that The Erno Laszlo Institute is still making beauty products. The Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask is a cool, pink jelly that feels so good on the skin. Its purpose is to make sure your skin is supplied with all the moisture it needs. After the night routine is completed, just apply the mask to the face and neck and go to bed. In the morning, the face is soft and hydrated. I loved that feeling. I started the day by washing off the night and moving forward with the daily routine. I've also tried using this masking in the day time. My skin enjoys it and I will be sad to see it go.

Finally, we have come to one of the most iconic moments in Marilyn's life. During an interview, she revealed wearing Chanel No.5 to bed. The perfume had been around many years prior, but it would be fair to say this caused people to run out to get the equally iconic perfume. There are many versions and she was talking about the pure perfume. It is the purest concentration of a scent and also very expensive. I have tried several interpretations of the iconic powdery-aldehyde laced fragrance. Currently, I have the Eau Premiere variation. It's a lighter eau de parfum, but still casts the same spell. A sea of powder and aldehydes is a captivation aroma. It's not for everyone, but those that have it understand the level of freshness that it has when worn. Chanel No. 5 is a fragrance I have to have in my collection pretty much at all times. If you still want to feel the same magic as Marilyn, but feel that the classic scent may not be for you, reach for the latest version, L'Eau. The scent is lighter due to the addition of May Rose.

Have you tried these two items?
