REVIEW: Charlotte Tilbury's Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask

REVIEW: Charlotte Tilbury's Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask

For so long, I have always wanted to experience that magic Charlotte Tilbury has. It could be just great marketing or her accent, but when I first discovered her, I wanted to try all of the skincare products. Granted, she is known for her A-list red carpet looks, but she is equally known for the creation of her famous Magic Cream. Using the theory of testing out a brand before diving in strong, I decided to try the mask. I have seen so many tutorials and rave reviews, that just made me want to try them more, especially all of the skincare.

I finally got my chance to try the dry mask. I loved the results I saw on camera and the fact that it is a dry mask intrigued me. Who wouldn’t want to try a mask that claims to give facial level results and can be used up to 3 times?

While doing some late night shopping, it was the perfect time to get a mask. I didn’t want to get the multi-pack, just the single mask. It retails for $22. The dry mask can be used up to 3 times. That basically means $7.33 per use.

Let's dive into it. So, like normal, my face was washed and dry when the mask was applied, as the instructions suggested. The first thing I noticed was the fact that the mask was in fact dry. I really loved the ear hooks. It made for a very secure mask and it did not slip around. Once the mask was on, the instructions stated to rub the mask to activate it and allow it to set on the face for 15 minutes. I did just that. I noticed that my face stayed dry the whole time.

When the mask was removed, my face did not feel like I just finished a facial. To be honest, my face actually felt dry. Not bone dry or dehydrated, but dry as in plain. I can say that I had a glow to my skin. I reviewed the rose gold pack again as if that would help me understand why my face was dry, yet it looked like I had a little bit of Becca on my face. I just folded the mask up and placed it back in the bag. I cannot say that the first impression of the mask is terrible, but I had high expectations, which is the story of my life.

Not wanting to give up and see the magic that others see, I decided to give the dry mask another try. What I noticed was the ear holes/holders started to feel flimsy. I wanted to be fair and not bash this mask. The mask was on and to get things activated, I used my jade roller. After 15 minutes, the mask was removed, and still no magic for me.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This mask is best for those that want to have a highlight to the skin before makeup is applied. The Instant Magic Facial Dry Mask is not for skincare fans, but it's for fans of makeup. Granted, when this mask is used, it is used in conjunction with prep before makeup is applied. It didn’t give me any promised benefits other than a slight glow, which is possibly due to a dry oil in the mask. The mask did not make it to 3 uses. It was placed politely in the trash can after the second attempt. I do not see myself buying this mask again. The brand may even get one more shot. It may do wonders for you if you want to have a glow with your CC cream or light coverage foundation, but don’t expect any magic from this mask.
