Eye Cream: Do You REALLY Need One?

Eye Cream: Do You REALLY Need One?

Yes, I pretty much live on YouTube beauty videos! It’s a great resource to discover and learn about new techniques and new products. I have my usual hang out spots, but every so often, I will see a video that piques my interest. If I watch it, similar videos will come up.

One day, I was looking for new eye cream recommendations because I ran out of the one I was using. Upon my quest for a new eye cream, I saw a few videos saying that an eye cream is really not needed. Curiosity told me to click it and I did. Basically, the first video I witnessed came from a dermatologist and he said eye creams were a waste of money. His rationale behind that is based upon the ingredients listed on the eye cream. Per his theory, its nothing more than just a regular moisturizer put in a smaller container and sold at a higher price. In his mind, the company was pretty much getting double for just one product. To a degree, it made sense to me. Later, I saw a regular content creator said she also did not use eye creams. Granted, at one point in life she did, but stopped and pretty much said it is because of the same reason the dermatologist said, it's a rip off.

To be honest, when I run out of eye cream and have a good amount of moisturizer left, I bring it up to the same area I would apply my eye cream. If I place myself on a no buy, I try to honor it and being lazy actually helps me out (LOL).

To be 100, I don’t always use an eye cream in my routine. If I want to feel extra, I will use an eye cream. In the morning, I may use an eye cream every once and a while. I just do not always reach for an eye cream. But as crazy as that sounds, I'm always looking for a new eye cream. Go figure! However, I really want to try an eye serum to see if there is really a difference.

Now, before leaving, let us revisit the initial question: do you really need an eye cream? Personally, I say no, unless you really need it. By that, I mean if your eye area is looking real dry and dusty, I would consider adding an eye cream to your routine. Ultimately, it's all just a matter of personal preference.
