Tone After Every Step?

Tone After Every Step?

On "Skincare Twitter", some of the estheticians posted the steps to take in an effort to make sure your products are working at their maximum capacity. After every step, they recommended that you should tone the skin. Upon reading this, I dismissed the notion, but then thought about it. Picture me as the meme of the blonde lady, you know the one I'm talking about.

One night during my routine, I tried this, well, a version of it. After doing my normal steps to  cleanse, I toned. Then, I applied a mask. At the time it was one of those wash off masks. I did not want to run the risk of removing the goodness of a sheet mask. When it was time to wash it off, I followed up with toner again. Now, After that last tone, I continued with my normal routine. Simply based upon that slight change, my skin felt soft beyond all understanding. It was a nice feeling, plus my skin looked great!

The logic behind toning after every step, it's simple: to restore the skin's pH. Every time water touches the face, the pH is thrown off. With the skin back at square one, the next steps in your routine would have a greater impact. Although it wasn't mentioned, I would recommend picking a nice hydrating toner. Naturally, I say reach for one that is alcohol free. Have you tried toning after every step? Did you notice a difference in your skin?
